Firefighters tackle flat blaze

by isleofman.com 4th February 2019

Firefighters were called into action on Saturday after a fire in a block of flats in Douglas.

A tenant of the property in Woodbourne Square raised the alarm just before 7pm after noticing smoke coming from underneath the floor boards and behind the skirting boards.

It was discovered the smoke was originating from first floor joists which were on fire underneath a fire place hearth.

Floor boards were cut away and the hearth removed which exposed the floor joists and allowed the fire to be extinguished.
