Search begins to find customer service champion

by isleofman.com 4th February 2019

The search is on to find the Douglas customer service champion of 2019.

Voting is now open – the competition is being run by Douglas Town Centre Management.

Nine employees from a number of shops in the town centre have been nominated for the accolade.

Town Centre Manager Oliver Cheshire says: "The competition’s in its third year now and it’s a great way of recognising those people who go out of their way each and every day to provide consistently good customer service.

"With online retail spend rising every year creating ever more challenging trading conditions for high street retailers, it’s all the more important that the “bricks and mortar” shopping experience is truly exceptional to prise shoppers away from their smartphones and other devices.

"Great customer service has the power to do exactly that and make shoppers want to return time and time again to Douglas town centre."

Each of the nominees have explained what customer service means to them.

Christelle Baxter – Top Shop

"I take pride in ensuring all of our customers have a positive shopping experience that remains with them even once leaving the store."

Jocelyne Furlong – TK Maxx

"Always smile and looking very welcoming. To give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity."

Jaico Garcia  - Manx Telecom

"Despite working with technology, I’m glad it still hasn’t replaced the ultimate relationship building tool between a customer and a business: the human touch. I always put the customer first so that our relationship lasts."

Tracey King – Marks & Spencer

"Good service to me is being friendly and approachable, really listening to their needs and treating each customer as an individual so that everyone walks away feeling satisfied."

Majka Kulesza – Sure

"Great customer service is finding a mutual understanding and ability to listen to all their needs while going above and beyond to exceed their expectations."

Amanda Stephens – Flannels

"Giving good customer service is interacting, listening and talking in a friendly and helpful way. People forget what you said; people forget what you did; but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Destiny Tate - Dorothy Perkins

"Good customer service means to me showing every customer how important and valued they are. Being friendly and always willing to go above and beyond to help."

Chris Teare – Burton

"To me, customer service is all about showing the customer just how important they are to you and not resting until you’ve gotten exactly what they would like. Good customer service means achieving expectations but excellent service means exceeding these expectations. I do not rest until I know I have got the best possible outcome for the customer. The customer must always be seen as number one priority."

Sarah Vaukins – Boots

"Customer service is important to me because as a community pharmacist I am often a customer’s first point of call regarding their health. It is vitally important to me that my customers feel valued, cared for and able to approach me about any issues they may have."

To vote visit the Douglas Town Centre Management Facebook page – the competition closes on February 11th.
