Vulnerable to get Winter Bonus to help with fuel costs

by isleofman.com 19th December 2018

Vulnerable people on the Isle of Man are being offered ?300 to help keep warm during the winter.

Treasury will pay the Winter Bonus in January to pensioners, disabled people and others who receive means-tested income support.

Providing the Winter Bonus costs the Isle of Man Government just under ?700,000 a year.

MHK Ralph Peake says: "People on low incomes can find it difficult to heat their homes during the colder months and the Winter Bonus is designed to make a real difference.’

"Anyone who is entitled to the Winter Bonus doesn’t need to claim it – it is paid to them automatically."
