Citywing names their 2015 nominated charity

by isleofman.com 5th March 2015

Citywing is delighted to announce that it has chosen the Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust as its nominated charity for 2015, providing them with 24 return tickets to use for fundraising during the year on all Citywing routes to and from the Island.

The Isle of Man-based charity funds nursing staff to provide respite care and end-of-life palliative care for Island residents with cancer, or other life-limiting illnesses, where curative treatment is no longer possible or appropriate, and who choose to remain at home in their last days; in effect, to provide a ‘Hospice at Home’ service.

David Buck, Managing Director of Citywing said: ‘We are very pleased to name the Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust as our chosen charity for 2015 and to be able to support them in a number of ways throughout the year.

‘This dedicated and worthwhile local charity provides vital services for our Island’s community, and we are honoured to work alongside them to raise awareness of these services, and raise the money to help ensure that they continue. In addition to 24 return tickets we’ll also be calling on our partners for help with some fundraising favourites, including the famous sponsored plane pull event.’

Ron Spencer, Chairman of Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust, said: ‘We are so pleased to be working with Citywing as their nominated charity for the year. Funds raised help to provide high quality nursing care and support to individual patients, their families, friends and carers.

‘We currently help to provide nearly 1,000 hours of care for patients each year, allowing them to be nursed in the comfort of their own home. Our services are increasingly relied upon and we are always aiming to provide as much as help as we can, and in as many ways as possible; as well as respite care and end of life care we aim to provide support of all kinds, including physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual. Fundraising is vital for any charity, and Citywing’s generous support will be a fantastic help in ensuring that we can continue to provide “Hospice at Home” help to those in need.’
