Singapore law change blamed for Betinternet closure

The closure of an established Isle of Man e-gaming company was the result of changes to internet gambling laws in Singapore, according to a respected industry figure.
Paul Davis managing director of Island-based gaming consultancy Counting House, says Betinternet.com had little choice but to shut its operation in the south-east Asian island.
The company has been trading from its base in Nelson Street, Douglas for the past 15 years.
Eleven people have lost their jobs in the closure, although their experience is thought to be in demand among Manx e-gaming sector firms.
Paul Davis says a substantial amount of the company's business and client base was in Singapore - but the plug has been firmly pulled now internet gambling has been made illegal there:
