Steam Packet supports animal charity's 'mission of mercy'

by isleofman.com 14th August 2014

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has helped an animal charity once again bring food to the residents of the Mann Cat Sanctuary in Santon.

Staff from the Liverpool-based Carla Lane Animals in Need charity made their ‘mission of mercy’ recently and, just like last September when they first travelled over with food for the sanctuary, the Steam Packet Company was able to do its part by providing free travel.

Frances Ellis, Founder and Principal Trustee of the charity, explained: ‘Myself, fellow Trustee Margaret Brady and Manager Cathy Billlington came over on a mission of mercy, bringing four months-worth of  much-needed cat food to the Mann Cat Sanctuary.

‘The sanctuary has more than 300 cats and kittens to feed and provide vet care for, which is not an easy task, and the number of cats requiring their support has risen due to many factors.

‘A company local to our charity on Merseyside supplied us with a vast quantity of cat food, free of charge, and the Steam Packet Company made it possible for us to deliver it to the sanctuary with its generosity.

‘We are very grateful to the Steam Packet Company for supporting this visit.’

Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We are well aware of the important work the Mann Cat Sanctuary is doing in difficult conditions and we were pleased to, once again, help the Carla Lane Animals in Need charity bring much-needed cat food to the Island.’
