The Young'uns

by Valerie Caine 29th March 2016

Brought to the Island by Jonno Promotions, all male line-up The Young 'Uns were named as Best Group at the BBC2 Folk Awards this year and also clinched Best Live Act in the Spiral Earth Awards, and it's not difficult to see why.

The trio, who hail from the North East of England, soon built a strong rapport with the audience, as they interspersed their powerful performance with cheeky, good-natured humour.

Ranging from sea shanties to strong, social statements, the trio confidently handled both traditional songs and self-penned works from both sides of the Atlantic.

They had the right balance of pathos, poignancy and humour, filling the rafters with exquisite harmonies and vocal arrangements, which the audience greatly enjoyed.
